Athletics: Scott and Baillie in Scots line-up

Allan Scott and Chris Baillie will be back in Scotland vests in Cardiff on Sunday for the Celtic Indoor Cup.

Comeback man Scott, who won the National Indoor Open 60 metre hurdles from Baillie at the Kelvin Hall last Sunday, spent two years out of the sport because he chose to play rugby instead.

Now he will hope to use the Cardiff event – where he will race against Welsh and Irish opposition – to stoke his ambitions to feature for Great Britain at the World Indoor Championships in Turkey in March.

Baillie, a Commonwealth Games silver medallist in 2006, will run the 60 metres flat race at the Celtic Indoor International with the 30-year-old determined to return to form.

The Scotland selection named today by scottishathletics also includes Gregor MacLean, who broke the senior indoor pole vault record last weekend with a leap of 5m 19cm, and GB Junior international Laura Muir, as well as young talent such as Chloe Lambert, Kathryn Christie and James Higgins.

Triple jumper Nony Mordi of Shaftesbury Barnet is also involved again after injury. The 24-year-old leapt 12.71 metres in the National Indoor Open in her first triple jump for more than two seasons.
