Athletics: No glorious triple jump comeback for Mordi

THERE was no great comeback for Edinburgh medical student Nony Mordi in the triple jump at the Aviva UK Athletics Championships and European Trials in Birmingham.

The Scottish record-holder, competing for only the second time after a 15-month injury break, could manage only a modest leap of 12.31 metres for ninth place compared to her best of 13.62 metres which would have won her the gold medal.

That went to Laura Samuel (Leicester) with a personal best of 13.52m.
