Argentina 41 - 13 France: Pumas bounce back in style

SEVEN days after losing a Test series to Scotland, Argentina bounced back, landing four tries to crush France in a one-off Test played in front of a 25,000 crowd at Velez Sarsfield football stadium.

Captain Felipe Contemponi was outstanding for the Pumas. He scored two tries, five penalties and three conversions to pass 500 international points as his side bounced back in style from their 2-0 home series defeat by Andy Robinson's touring Scots.

Neither team managed to get anywhere near the try line until France were down to 13 men two minutes from the end of the first half.

Florian Fritz had been sent off after 35 minutes and a team mate was also lying injured on the field when Juan Fernandez Lobbe dived over to make it 19-6 at half-time.

Contemponi, who plays for Toulon, then ran 30 yards and avoided three tackles to score under the posts eight minutes into the second half before claiming his second try 19 minutes later after again outpacing the opposition.

Lucas Amorosino scored Argentina's other try while Julien Malzieu touched down for France.
