Aplon sparkles for Springboks

WORLD champions South Africa overwhelmed Six Nations champions France 42-17 with two early tries and free-flowing rugby in Cape Town on Saturday.

South Africa winger Gio Aplon, playing only his second international, scored two tries – running the length of the field for his second – and was named man-of-the-match. Morne Steyn added three conversions and three penalties in front of 46,885 fans.

Apart from a fine first-half try from winger Aurelien Rougerie, France made little impression before a consolation touchdown from replacement winger Marc Andreu.
