Anthony Michael hits back to lead after wobble

Rookie Anthony Michael recovered from an awful start on day three to lead the Alfred Dunhill Championship by one stroke heading into the final round at Malelane.

The little-known South African, who came into the penultimate day two shots ahead of his closest challengers, saw his advantage quickly disappear after two bogeys in his first three holes, but recovered well to eventually post a 71.

That moved him to ten under overall, with defending champion Pablo Martin breathing down his neck thanks to a superb four-under 68.

Spaniard Martin was aided by two eagles in three holes on the back nine which followed his two birdies and two bogeys earlier, to move to a nine-under total - the same score as another local Dawie Van der Walt after he carded a 70. Two more South Africans - last year's runner-up Charl Schwartzel and Alex Haindl - stand two strokes further back at the Leopard Creek Country Club after rounds of 69 and 72 respectively.

Thomas Aiken recorded the round-of-the-day score of 67, which included six birdies and a bogey - an effort that enabled him to sit on five under in total - while the highest-placed Britons were Robert Dinwiddie (71 in round three), Robert Rock (75) and David Drysdale (72) all on four under.

In Dubai, Denmark's Iben Tinning marked her farewell from the Ladies European Tour with victory at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters. The 36-year-old Dane birdied the par-five last to finish 11 under.

That clinched her first success on the tour since September 2005 - the year when she was Europe's number one having won three titles. Tinning had already stated this would be her swansong event, and after holing the birdie putt she embraced husband Lasse.

The Dane birdied at the seventh, tenth and eleventh before a bogey at the par-three 15th opened the door for a potential challenge from Sweden's Anna Nordqvist and England's Melissa Reid. However, Tinning's birdie at 18 ensured a winning margin of two from Nordqvist, while Reid missed out on a share of second with a bogey on the last.

Another Englishwoman, Florentyna Parker, shot a 68 for a share of fourth alongside American Christina Kim while Michelle Wie of the United States shot the best round of the day with five birdies in a 67 to finish in a tie for fifth with defending champion Kim In-kyung of South Korea.
