The anorak: Play up your cash on banker bet Pompey at 4-6

PORTSMOUTH, are worth risking a bit off the kids' Christmas money on today as the banker bet to beat Scunthorpe at 4-6 with William Hills and Ladbrokes.

They have been more impressive on the road of late, as 2-1 victories at high-flying Swansea and Norwich last week have underlines, but at Fratton Park they are strong, too, and can make Scunthorpe's long trip fruitless.

Steve Cotterill has made some terrific signings in Jamie Lawrence and Dave Kitson from Stoke, while David Nugent has recaptured the form that got him an England call-up. Since Brian Laws' departure the Iron have completely lost their way and another defeat looks likely here.

To make up the Yankee, take Nottingham Forest at 4-6 to beat Crystal Palace, in-form Barnsley at a massive 10-3 to win at Millwall with Stan James; and Sheffield Wednesday to exploit the possible fatigue of Exeter who had to go to penalties in midweek (6-4 Hills).
