Andy Murray plays 'wait and see' with injury

Andy Murray had still to make a decision last night on playing in the Aegon Championships at Queen's Club, which start today, because of an ankle injury sustained at the French Open.

The second seed has been cautious to commit to the grass-court tournament, with Wimbledon only two weeks away.

"I have to wait and see," said Murray, who has a first-round bye.

Defending champion Sam Querrey and Rafael Nadal are due to compete but Novak Djokovic has already pulled out injured.

World number four Murray, who received the bye as one of the top eight seeds, is scheduled to play Xavier Malisse of Belgium or German world number 99 Matthias Bachinger in the second round so will have a couple of days to assess his fitness.

Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia, seeded 14th, is a possible third-round opponent, while Croatia's Marin Cilic and four-time champion Andy Roddick are potential quarter-final and semi-final opponents respectively. Murray is looking to bounce back after his semi-final loss to Nadal in Paris. Wimbledon starts on 20 June and Murray, the 2009 Queen's Club champion, will be desperate to be 100 per cent fit for that. He may, therefore, not wish to risk further damaging his ankle before then.

"I felt pretty good physically when I wasn't expecting to because there were a lot of things going on in Paris," said the 24-year-old, who has also entered the doubles at Queen's alongside brother Jamie. "I moved well and my ankle felt better each day."
