Andy Murray eases past Sam Querrey in Cincinnati Masters

Andy Murray cruised into the third round of the Cincinnati Masters with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over American Sam Querrey.

The Olympic champion forced a break point as early as the third game but was unable to convert that opportunity. He would not be denied for long though as some dogged defence and a brilliant lob created a break-point opportunity which was duly taken.

Another break for Murray was forthcoming after more solid defence, blocking two successive Querrey smashes. He served out the first set, taking it in just 34 minutes and with just four unforced errors.

The second set started as the first ended with Murray in complete control. Another break and a hold of serve saw the Scot 
extend his run of games won to six. He remained largely in complete control on serve and faced just one real scare when at 4-3 up he faced two break points, but both were saved.

Murray served out the match with comfort and goes on to face Jeremy Chardy of France next.

Novak Djokovic also progressed after seeing off Andreas Seppi of Italy 7-6 (4), 6-2 while in the women’s section, top-seeded Agnieszka Radwanska of Poland advanced to the third round with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Sofia Arvidsson of Sweden.
