Almondvale and Stark's fail inspections

THE cold weather is still playing havoc with the fourth round of the Active Nation Scottish Cup, with two of last night's rearranged matches postponed because of frozen pitches.

Livingston's clash with Dundee was called off following the failure of the undersoil heating at Almondvale. It was fixed yesterday morning but the pitch was deemed too hard following a 2.15pm inspection. Another attempt to play the match will be made this evening, with the winners set for a fifth-round clash against Ayr United.

Raith Rovers' tie with Airdrie United also failed a 2.15pm inspection yesterday afternoon after the bottom end of the surface at Stark's Park was deemed to be frozen. The two First Division sides will try again on Monday, with a home tie against Aberdeen the prize for the winners.

The call-off at Stark's Park means that Raith's league match with Dunfermline, which was scheduled for next Tuesday night, has been postponed. No new date has been confirmed yet.
