Agulla agrees deal to plug a gap in Leicester's back three

LEICESTER have confirmed Argentina winger Horacio Agulla will join the club in the summer.

The 25-year-old will move to Welford Road on a two-year deal as he leaves French club Brive.

Agulla, who can also play at full-back, has 22 caps to his name and was part of the Pumas squad that finished third at the 2007 World Cup. He also played against England last autumn as the South Americans were beaten 16-9 at Twickenham.

His signing will add to the Tigers' strength in depth behind the scrum as they look to replace the likes of Sam Vesty and Johne Murphy, who will leave the club in the summer to join Bath and Munster respectively.

Leicester head coach Richard Cockerill said: "He is a quality player with a decent amount of Test experience behind him and he has benefited from a couple of seasons playing his club rugby in France. We've been looking for a player to fit into the back three since we knew that Johne Murphy would be returning to Ireland and we think Horacio Agulla can develop and improve even further in this environment.

"He is a skilful footballer and he has plenty to offer here."

• Twickenham has been confirmed as the venue to host South Africa's end-of-year fixture against Barbarians.

This was confirmed by the South African Rugby Union (SARU), with the fixture set to bring down the curtain on the Springboks' tour to the United Kingdom and Ireland, which features games against all four home nations.

The clash against the Baa-Baas, the seventh meeting between the two sides dating back to 1952, will take place on 4 December and follow on from matches against Ireland, Wales Scotland and England – all being played in November.
