Achara free to aid Scots bid

Scotland’s senior men have had a major boost ahead of this weekend’s two basketball games against Andorra at the Peak Sports Centre, Stirling with the news that Great Britain have agreed to release local hero Kieran Achara to play for Scotland in the games.

Former Falkirk Fury star Achara, now playing professionally in Italy, is one of only two Scots in the Great Britain men’s squad for Eurobasket in Lithuania in August, the other being Dunfermline’s Robert Archibald.

Meanwhile, Lee Reilly and his former Edinburgh Kings clubmate Ali MacKay have both been included in the final 12 for the Great Britain Under-20 team to contest the European B Championship. Also in the side is Ali Fraser, the former Falkirk Fury star now at the University of Maine. Britain will play Czech Republic, Finland, Luxembourg and Norway in their group in Sarajevo beginning on July 14.
