8am Round-Up: Feng-tastic back-to-back wins for Shanshan

The world No 8, who’d claimed the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia last weekend, closed with a 70 for a 13-under-par 203 total, winning by a shot from Korea’s Ha Na Jang in Ibaraki.

It is Feng’s sixth LPGA title triumph and she joins Ariya Jutanugarn and Lydia Ko as back-to-back winners on the circuit this season.

England’s Charley Hull finished joint-14th on seven-under, with Catriona Matthew ending up in a tie for 62nd on two-over.

Senior Open champion Paul Broadhurst and Colin Montgomerie are both inside the top 15 with a round to go in the Dominion Charity Classic on the Champions Tour.

Broadhurst, who won on the US over-50s circuit at Pebble Beach earlier in the year, posted a second-round 68 in Virginia to sit joint-fourth on six-under.

Montgomerie is two shots back in joint-13th after a 69 that contained four birdies in the last six holes, including the final three.

After two 67s, American Scott McCarron shares the lead on 10-under with compatriot Tom Byrum (65-69), though Bernhard Lanher is lurking ominously in third.

The German, who missed last week’s opening event in the inaugural Charles Schwab Cup Play-Offs, sits two back after rounds of 67 and 69.

Martin Laird, the 2009 winnner, is 10 shots off the lead going into the final round of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas.

The Scot signed sits joint-57th on five-under after signing for a third-round 69 at TPC Summerlin.

Former US Open champion Lucas Glover leads on 15-under after a second consecutive 65, sitting one ahead of compatriot Brooks Koepka (70) and Australian Rod Pampling (71).

Drumoig’s Connor Syme bounced back from a disappointing 80 in the second round to claim a top-20 finish in the Federal Amateur Open in Australia.

The Australian Amateur champion signed off with scores of 73 and 70 for an eight-over-par 296 total in Canberra.

He finished 18th in an event won by Boonie Doon’s Austin Bautista on 280.

Syme now turns his attention to the New South Wales Open and the Australian Open.

David Law, Grant Forrest and Ross Kellett all remained to the fore after the second round of the European Tour Qualifying School stage two events in Spain.

Law, who’d led after an opening 65 at Lumine Beach, backed that up with a 69 to sit one off the pace, with Kellett a shot further back.

Forrest followed his opening 67 at Las Colinas with an equally solid 68 to lie just two shots off the lead there.

At El Saler, Wallace Booth slipped back after a 74 - seven more than his opening effort - but Ewen Fergson leapt up the leaderboard with a 69.

Tartan Tour star Graham Fox finished joint-fifth in the PGAs of Europe Invitational Pro-Am in Portugal.

The former Scottish PGA champion closed with a 70 at Qu for a seven-under-par 209 total, earning €1,350.

Despite a closing 75, Swede Peter Gustafson claimed the €8,200 top prize by two shots on 204.

Victorious Solheim Cup team skipper Alison Nicholas will captain the 2017 European PING Junior Solheim Cup team.

Nicholas was a six-time Solheim Cup player and two-time captain, leading Europe to victory at Killeen Castle in Ireland in 2011.

Next year’s Junior Solheim Cup will be played at Des Moines Golf and Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa.
