Slavia Prague file criminal charges after claiming 'pre-meditated' Rangers assault following Glen Kamara incident

Slavia Prague have filed a criminal complaint with Police Scotland over an alleged incident at Ibrox following their Europa League match against Rangers on Thursday evening.

Ondrej Kudela is said to have been attacked inside the stadium after the match. The Czech club named Steven Gerrard as a witness in their statement.

The defender is alleged to have racially abused Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara. During the match, he ran across the pitch to say something in Kamara’s ear. This prompted a furious response from the Finnish international and several home players, most notably Bongani Zungu and Connor Goldson.

A furious Gerrard backed up his player’s version of events after the 2-0 defeat as the club called for Uefa to come down hard on the player.

A statement announced: "SK Slavia Praha has filed a criminal complaint with Police Scotland through the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Great Britain for the physical assault of player Ondrej Kudela.

"The attack on player Ondrej Kudela was pre-meditated and planned, including deliberately covering the cameras at the scene of the incident. The brutal and crude attack was conducted with full intensity in order to injure and cause physical damage.

"The submission contains the names of witnesses, who, in addition to representatives of SK Slavia Praha, were also representatives of the UEFA delegation as well as Rangers FC coach Steven Gerrard.”

Rangers lost the match at Ibrox 2-0 and exited the Europa League at the last 16 stage having drawn the first leg in Prague. Both Kemar Roofe and Leon Balogun were sent off during the contest.
