The venture, which was only launched in August, is already planning to grow with new single cask offerings being introduced this month.

Building on the successful launch of The Advocates Batch from the New Town Blends, and two single malt cask releases from The Library Collection, the new additions will also be based on landmarks within the capital’s Old and New Towns. Edinburgh Whisky has been set up by Gordon Watt and Gregor Mathieson – who have almost 40 years’ industry experience between them. The pair are said to have spotted a gap in the market for high-end whiskies for both tourists and locals.

Watt said: “We have ambitious plans to tap into the global market through our long-term focus on overseas markets.”

The funding deal was conducted by Jill Jardine, relationship manager at Clydesdale’s business and private banking centre.
