Noveller is the solo electric guitar project of Brooklyn-based musician and filmmaker Sarah Lipstate. Her uniquely mesmerising and rich instrumental sound showcases Lipstate’s skill as a composer. Having previously supported the likes of Radiolab and St Vincent, Lipstate has embarked on her own European tour, with a stop-off in Edinburgh this evening.

THEATRE: ALEX FERGUSON - LEADING

Not your traditional night at the theatre. Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson returns to his hometown of Glasgow to share his pearls of wisdom on leadership. In conversation with presenter Nicky Campbell, Sir Alex will talk about the strategies he developed to turn Manchester United into one of Europe’s most successful cluvs over three decades. His latest tell-all book, Leading, will also figure.

FILM: PASOLINI

A chance to see Abel Ferrara’s 2014 take on Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini’s last days on the big screen at Dundee’s DCA. Ferrara had dreamed of making a film about Pasolini since the 1990s and - over a decade later - finally captured this dark and heartbreaking biopic. Willem Dafoe stars as the troubled Pasolini (supported by an outstanding Italian cast) and brilliantly portrays the unjust and untimely demise of one of Italy’s iconic filmmakers.

EXHIBITION: DOCUMENT SCOTLAND - THE TIES THAT BIND

Brand new to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, photography exhibition ‘Document Scotland’ combines the work of four Scottish photographers (Sophie Gerrard, Stephen McLaren, Colin McPherson and Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert) in Scotland both pre and post-independence referendum. Touching on the country’s political landscape, the 75 photographs beautifully capture both the country and its people as well as presenting a multitude of views around the independence debate.
