BALLET: CINDERELLA

The world of Christopher Hampson’s Cinderella comes alive in this European premiere of the classic fairytale, accompanied by The Scottish Ballet Orchestra and Prokofiev’s world-famous score.

SCREENING: GILES BAILEY INTRODUCES SPALDING GRAY

As part of a programme of screenings and events accompanying Giles Bailey and Jeremiah Day’s current exhibition at the CCA, Bailey will introduce two short films focusing on the performances of the late American actor and writer, Spalding Gray. 
The films shown will be A Personal History of the American Theatre and Double Lunar Dogs.

GIG: THE VACCINES

The Vaccines, one of British indie rock’s more appealing outfits, play at Edinburgh’s Usher Hall tonight in support of their latest album, English Graffiti. Monday nights are usually an arid desert of open mic nights; The Vaccines’ arrival is a rare tonic.

ORCHESTRA: SCOTTISH ENSEMBLE - THREE PARTS BACH

“The meditative, cyclic, cascading notes of Bach hold a subtle power,” says the programme for the Scottish Ensemble’s Three Parts Bach, a candlelit concert made to elicit an atmosphere of “meditation, reflection and immersion”. Guest directed by Matthew Truscott, the performance also features music from Arvo Pärt and Sofia Gubaidulina.

EXHIBITION: WORK IN PROGRESS

Peacock Visual Arts is hosting their annual Christmas gallery, which showcases work from artists who have displayed at the gallery in the last 12 months, including Frances Walker, Adam Bridgland, Janice Kerbel and Hugh Rowson. The exhibition runs until January 16.
