Ten places in Scotland to make your own festive wreath this Christmas

If you fancy getting crafty this Christmas then why not make your own wreath? With a variety of venues hosting wreath-making events (many with a drink or two), here’s our pick of the best

Loch Leven’s Larder

Enjoy a festive day at the popular Loch Leven’s Larder. As part of their Christmas events, these bespoke wreath-making classes are hosted by Jill Sutherland of Flora Alba, a local flower grower who has several years’ experience selling wreaths and leading workshops.

Participants will discover how to make a bespoke Christmas wreath using local evergreen greenery and natural decorations including cones, dried flowers and fruit. Tuition and all materials are provided, all you need to bring are secateurs and an apron. Anyone looking for extra decoration can also bring baubles or even lights.

Glendoick Garden Centre

Pack scissors or secateurs and head along to this morning of festive craft, hosted by florist Fiona Heggison. In this two hour workshop, you will learn how to make a Christmas wreath from scratch, with fresh moss, orange slices, mini pumpkins, chillis and a variety of other local fresh foliage, all supplied. After guiding you through the wreath construction, Fiona will also give advice on after care as well as tips about flowers and plants for the Christmas season.

Treat yourself to this festive event, which also includes a Christmas craft and bake sale. Join local floral artist, Ruby, for a festive morning of wreath making and Christmas baking. After tea and coffee, you’ll learn how to create a fresh Christmas wreath from beginning to end. Perfect for a fun family day out.

Indulge in a morning of craft and culture with this Christmas wreath-making morning with Monica Wylie. Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh, the event is for Friends of the Gallery (so if you want to go, sign up here).

Hosted by local Edinburgh florist Monica, who owns Flowers by Monica Wylie, visitors can browse the gallery and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the cafe afterwards.

This action-packed festive craft day includes wreath making, Christmas tree bauble making and a chance to make your own Christmas table decorations.

Get into the Christmas spirit early with this special master-class. The Malmasion has partnered with Snapdragon Florists, who will help you create your own Christmas wreath and share helpful decorative advice along the way during this two hour class.

Get crafty this Christmas with this wreath making workshop at Restoration Yard, hosted by Laura Thomas and Stacey Kaarsgard from Coach House Creatives.

This foraged and found style workshop, held in the Furniture Loft, will guide you through the process of crafting a fantastic Yuletide wreath, using foliage that has been pre-sourced from the park. Materials include pine cones, dried fruits, fresh herbs and much more.

Create a lovely festive wreath and give to charity at this workshop held in the iconic Kibble Palace at Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens.

The first ever Cornerstone wreath making workshop is being hosted by florist Karen Stellard, from Posies and Pots, who was a finalist at the Scottish Wedding Awards 2017.

As well as wreath making, you can enjoy festive drinks, food and a few seasonal surprises.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Cornerstone, which provides care and support services for adults, children and young people with disabilities and other support needs.

Enjoy an evening of creating a beautiful festive wreath at Glasgow’s Scandinavian café, For Fika Sake. Hosted by Melanie from Briar Rose Design, this class is ideal for an after work treat. Briar Rose work a mixture of Scottish grown wild flowers and Dutch flowers to create alternative and natural looking floral designs, so expect a lovely rustic looking wreath.
