Stirling Co 15 - 29 Currie: Currie too hot for County

COUNTY’S October renaissance shuddered to a halt as Currie did the double on their hosts, having thrashed Stirling in the opening fixture of the BT Premiership campaign.

Three tries before the first quarter was done gave Currie a lead that Stirling never looked like overcoming.

Richard Snedden was first to cross as early as the third minute, James Semple converting, before referee Graeme Wells awarded a penalty try after County’s Dylan Taikato-Simpson was adjudged to have knocked on deliberately, an infringement for which he was yellow carded.

Former County winger Rory Hughes punished slack Stirling defence to make it 19-0 as Currie continued to dominate.

Shaun Treweek reduced the deficit with a kick but the home side were ineffectual as an attacking force and it came as no surprise that Currie extended their lead when Ross Weston drove over, Semple again on target with the boot shortly after the restart. Semple then chipped a penalty before County finally managed late tries through Shaun McDonald and Matt Lamb.
