The firm, which was founded in 1987 and specialises in cartoned soups including wild mushroom and carrot and coriander, has been touring the UK as part of a regional marketing investment, with its “Souper Wagon” visiting the capital’s Princes Street on the latest leg. As well as giving out soup to shoppers, the company has been donating soup and cash to local charities at each stop. Jeremy Hudson, chief executive of Hain Daniels, the Yorkshire-based food and drinks group which owns New Covent Garden Soup Co, said Cyrenians was a worthy recipient of the initiative.

The charity, which was founded almost 50 years ago, works with the homeless focusing on long-term solutions, including help with housing, training and employment, rather than short-term handouts. Hain Daniels’ other brands include Rose’s and Sunripe.
