Six essential ticket apps for music fans

SCOTLAND has long been heralded as a country of culture. From the legendary Edinburgh Fringe to Glasgow’s status as an European City of Music, you’d be hard pressed to deny what a vibrant and exciting country it is when it comes to the Scot’s passion for all things musical.

Last year's T in the Park was enjoyed by thousands.

Yet, it’s not always easy to find the best gigs, or if you’ve found them remember where and when they are. 
Luckily, there are a variety of apps available for music lovers to choose from to ensure you never miss your favourite bands:



BANDSINTOWN

This app lets you stalk your favourite artists from the comfort of your own home and then reminds you when they’re playing near said home. Any gigs you RSVP to are automatically synced with your calendar so you shouldn’t miss a single gig. Ever. Unless you run out of battery.

TICKX

Billing themselves as the SkyScanner of events: Scotland-based TickX allows you to browse just under 50,000 gigs, club nights, comedy, theatre and sports events and then compare the best ticket prices from over 15 of the largest ticket sellers, and legitimate resellers, in the UK. You can also plan your journey to their event with their integrated Uber, maps and city mapper services.

SONGKICK


Songkick mirrors a lot of the ideas of bandsintown but it lets you buy tour tickets within the app as well so you can browse listings and buy tickets all in the same place. It’ll also recommend you artists to check out best on your taste in music from using the app.

EVENTBRITE

The e-ticket solution for everyone: event brite allows anyone to host e-tickets for events, save them on your phone, print them or both. It also allows you to search for events in the sectors you’re interested in and shares a variety of content and advice about running and co-ordinating your event. An obvious choice for the self-made business man or ground root activist looking to find an easy way to share, and run, their events.

TICKETMASTER

Everyones go to for tickets, TicketMaster’s app lists all the events they sell tickets for, handily split by categories and genre, and then lets you browse and purchase tickets without having to do anything exhausting like wander through the tremendous Scottish weather to a Box Office. It even does clever things like suggest events based on your iTunes library.

STUBHUB

Another of the ticketing giants, StubHubs app allows you easy to access to a huge variety of tickets, and the option to sell them again if it turns out you can’t go in the end. Their app also features a variety of recommendations and notification services as well as the ability to look at maps of the venue in question to choose the perfect spot for you.
