The Stirling-based company, part of the Robertson Group, has submitted its proposal concerning Gleann Mor House to Highland Council.

The listed building, at the firm’s Westercraigs development, was built in 1864 and was badly damaged by fire in 2007. The first phase of its restoration finished in 2011.

The company said the submission came a few days after it applied to build 50 homes at Westercraigs. If approved, work would start next year on both projects, which together amount to investment of £20m. First occupation is scheduled for 2017.

John Murphy, managing director of Robertson Homes, said: “We expect significant demand, particularly as we near completion of the West Link Road, dramatically improving road connectivity to the area.”

He added: “Our plans are to create a sustainable semi-rural community at Westercraigs, including play facilities, green space and community facilities. We are also moving forward with plans to upgrade the link road to the A82.”

Robertson Group started out in 1966 and now has more than 1,600 staff.
