RBS staff get on bikes for 500 mile challenge

RBS chief executive Ross McEwan joined staff in a 500 mile cycle ride from London to Edinburgh to raise money through Sport Relief 2016.

More than 750 staff cycled from RBS’ main offices in London to its headquarters in Gogarburn, Edinburgh, over five days period, stopping along the way at Banbury, Stafford, Birmingham, Manchester, Blackburn and Carlisle.

The Cycle Challenge kick-offs a seven month campaign for RBS to raise as much as it can for Sport Relief, with almost £180,000 already raised.

Mr McEwan and CFO Ewen Stevenson each took part in 100 miles, Alison Rose, CEO of Commercial and Private Banking cycled 135 miles, while senior executives Mark Bailie, CEO of RBS Capital Resolution and Chris Marks, CEO of Corporate and Institutional Banking, cycled the full route.

For those who couldn’t take to their bikes on the open road, static bikes were be set up across over 40 RBS buildings so that staff were still able to clock up their miles and fundraise.
