Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall will host two performances by the Purple Rain singer on November 27. One performance will begin at 5pm and the other will take place four hours later.

As the name suggests, the tour will involve only Prince, a piano and a microphone. This will be the first time in 37 years that Prince has toured in this manner, according to promoters.

Speaking at a press conference recently, the singer said: “Why do this now? For several reasons. For starters it is a challenge. I rarely get bad reviews because this is something that’s been perfected for over 30 years. You have to try new things. With the piano it is more naked, more pure. You can see exactly what you get.”

At the moment, only three locations have been confirmed for his tour, although rumours suggest up to 16 different cities will appear on the singer’s schedule. Glasgow, London and Birmingham have been announced for later this month and it’s suggested there will be some late additions with the superstar’s track record of leaving announcements to the last minute.

Tickets are limited to two per person and due to go on sale at 10am on Friday.
