The Jags host Inverness and Motherwell this week before a New Year derby with Celtic and they then have four successive games against teams in the bottom six.

Archibald said: “To be fair you wouldn’t know we had been on such a bad run. If you had seen the way we played on Saturday, they passed the ball well and they created chances.

“Fair play to them, they are young lads and they have not let it affect them. They have kept their confidence up and they need to do that.

“It would be different if we were playing really badly, we would maybe need to change the way we were playing, but we played well at the weekend so we need to keep the confidence up and hopefully things will start to turn for us because it has to happen quickly.

“We have two home games and then we have a run of games against most of the teams round about us, so it’s vital that we start to win games no matter which way we do it.”
