New contract ties Scott Brown to Celtic until 2018
The 29-year-old midfielder, who also captains Scotland, made his Celtic debut against Kilmarnock in August 2007 after signing from Hibernian and, under manager Ronny Deila, is looking for his fourth consecutive Premiership title this season.
Brown told the club’s official website said: “It’s an absolute privilege to extend my contract with Celtic, a brilliant football club and with such incredible supporters. This is a place that I call home.

Celtic will have to do without the services of their captain tomorrow when they host Dundee. Brown is serving a one-match suspension following his dismissal in the 2-1 win over Aberdeen earlier this month.
The Parkhead club are expected to fill the void by redeploying Stefan Johansen in a deeper role. The Norwegian midfielder has experience of playing the holding position for his country and helped them to a 1-0 Euro 2016 qualifying win over Azerbaijan in Baku on Saturday.
“I wish we had Scott available for the game,” said Johansen. “But he isn’t, so if the gaffer wants me to play in that position, I’m happy to play there. It’s no problem for me but we’ll see.
“I play as a holding midfielder for the national team, which is different to the role I have had with Celtic lately.”
Johansen has played in a more advanced position with Celtic, and has scored three times in his last six games.
