Rangers have unveiled a number of third kits over the years, with last season’s red kit and the 2013/14 season’s black third kit with red panels.

However, this kit is purple, with lighter purple shading...in a diamond pattern.

A number of Gers fans tweeted that they were warming to the ‘retro pattern’ however a handful of fans hit out at the kit, calling it ‘rancid’ and ‘a joke’.

Rangers fans are currently being urged to boycott official merchandise due to Mike Ashley’s continued involvement with the club’s retail arm.

If this does turn out to be a Rangers third kit, it wouldn’t be the first time the team have played in a purple kit - a purple change kit was introduced in the early Nineties for European competition, while a couple of goalkeeper jerseys of the same era also featured purple.
