The outspoken Dens Park manager is contesting two Notices of Complaint that were issued by Compliance Officer Vincent Lunny last Monday.

The first relates to a potential breach of Disciplinary Rule 71 after Brown accused ex-Dundee goalkeeper Robert Douglas of telling lies about their fall-out.

The SFA also believe Brown to be guilty of breaking rules 82 (suggesting the use of violence) and 86 (not acting in the best interests of Association Football) regarding his remarks about one-time Rangers chief executive Charles Green.

After Green claimed Rangers manager Ally McCoist faced a problem if he did not win a major cup this season, Brown said: “Green’s comments were a disgrace. If my own directors had said that about me, I would have taken every one of them by the throat.”

Dundee chief executive Scott Gardiner said: “We’ll defend both of the charges against him.”

Meanwhile, it is understood that Hearts assistant manager Billy Brown will contest an SFA charge regarding his sending-off against Aberdeen last month. Lunny issued a Notice of Complaint over a potential breach of rule 203 (misconduct at a match by leaving the technical area in the absence of special circumstances and by adopting an aggressive attitude to a member of the opposing team staff).

Dons manager Derek McInnes, who was also charged, and Brown were both sent to the stand by referee Alan Muir in the wake of Hearts teenager Jordan McGhee netting the winner in the Premiership match on 24 August.

McInnes admittedly pushed Brown as the Tynecastle number two celebrated the goal.

Brown, who is working without pay at the administration-hit club, was also seen remonstrating with Aberdeen counterpart Tony Docherty before heading down the tunnel.

He is set to appear at Hampden in person next Thursday in a bid to clear his name.
