Greig McDonald’s surgery is put on hold

STIRLING Albion player/manager Greig McDonald was due to have an operation on a knee problem today.

But, after missing out on side’s 1-0 win over Rangers back in October as he was getting married on the same day, he arranged for surgery to be put back 48 hours so that he could face the Ibrox side tonight.

“As soon as I saw that I could be missing for this game I had to get the operation moved as I could not miss out on two home games against Rangers,” he said.

The Forthbank side can go into the clash with the league leaders with confidence after ending a four-month stay at the foot of the table when they defeated Clyde 2-0 at the weekend.

The goalscorer from the first meeting, Brian Allison, is available after a two game ban but Graham Weir and Sandy Cunningham are doubtful.

Berwick will look to build on a positive performance against Rangers to grab the win over visitors Elgin that will keep their fading hopes of a play-off place alive. Manager Ian Little said: “We have been playing well for a few weeks now but not getting the points we deserve. Hopefully we can turn that around against Elgin.”

Elgin’s faltering promotion challenge has taken another blow ahead of the long trip south as new signing Ross McKinnon has been ruled 
out after suffering severe ankle ligament damage in the warm up for Saturday’s game at East Stirling.
