A woman who mysteriously vanished in Glasgow after sending a text saying “help me” has been found.

Sirong Xu was last seen in the city centre about 2:30pm yesterday.

Immediately before her disappearance, Ms Xu sent a message to a friend containing three “crying” emojis.

The message was followed by the words “help me” in Mandarin. The text was sent about 4:30pm.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said the Chinese woman, known as Grace, had been found safe and well as of this afternoon.

There were no further confirmed details surrounding her disappearance.

Ms Xu had gone to Glasgow’s Central Station with her boyfriend on the day of her disappearance to say goodbye before he boarded the train.

Police examined CCTV footage from the station in their successful bid to trace her whereabouts.

Footage reportedly showed Ms Xu in the main concourse of the station before heading to the lower level.

It is believed she was then seen on Sauchiehall Street.
