TRIBUTES have been paid to a “happy, friendly and enthusiastic” five-year-old who has died hours after feeling unwell.
Eilidh Dempsey was kept off her classes at Townhill Primary, in Hamilton, on Monday after feeling unwell and was later found unconscious on a settee at a relative’s house.
A police spokeswoman said: “We received a report around 1pm on Monday, December 5, concerning the death of a five-year-old girl.
“A post-mortem examination has been carried out and there are no suspicious circumstances.”
Tributes have been paid to the young girl whose parents Debbie McGinty and Craig Dempsey are said to be “devastated”.
Julie McGowan, headteacher at Townhill Primary, said: “Eilidh was a happy, friendly and enthusiastic girl.
“She enjoyed school and we feel privileged to have had the chance to have been a part of her life.
“She was a credit to her family and our thoughts and prayers are with her mum, dad, family and friends.”
