Man rescued from Irvine Harbour

A man has been taken to hospital after he was rescued from a harbour.

A rescue operation was launched at Irvine harbour in North Ayrshire after the alarm was raised at around 9.45am on Tuesday.

Troon RNLI inshore and all weather lifeboats, Ayr and Ardrossan coastguard rescue teams and the coastguard helicopter from Prestwick went to the scene, along with police, the ambulance and fire service.

It is not known how he ended up in the harbour.

He was taken to University Hospital Crosshouse near Kilmarnock, police said.
