Glasgow make 8 changes for 1872 Cup return leg

GLASGOW coach Gregor Townsend has made eight changes to his team as the Warriors bid to overturn a 12-point deficit in the second 1872 Cup match against Edinburgh at Scotstoun on Saturday, kick-off 5.15pm.

Following the 23-11 defeat to the holders at BT Murrayfield on Sunday, Duncan Weir replaces Finn Russell at stand-off, while Ali Price is preferred to Grayson Hart at scrum-half for the Guinness Pro12 champions.

Sean Lamont replaces Tommy Seymour on the left wing.

As expected, Jonny Gray returns at lock and captain after failing the last part of concussion return-to-play protocols last week.

USA international Greg Peterson joins Gray in the second row as Leone Nakarawa drops to the bench.

Josh Strauss, who was rested at the weekend, returns at No 8 while, in the front row, props Gordon Reid and Zander Fagerson earn starts.

Flanker Ryan Wilson will make his 100th appearance for the club.

Townsend said: “A number of players who featured last weekend have been given another opportunity and they will be determined to put in a much better performance this weekend.

“The game has been sold out for a couple of months and this is a game our supporters really look forward to.”
