Back-to-back wins have eased their early season jitters, and this was a sound performance after their success against Gala the previous week.

“I’m very pleased to get an away win. It’s important for us to do that,” said Laverie. “It’s good for the players to get some
confidence.”

Hawks went ahead early on thanks to a penalty from Gregor Hunter and a touchdown by Jack
MacFarlane, that the stand-off
converted.

Jonny Hope nudged over a kick for County’s first points but then made a foolish error close to half time by mouthing off to referee Sam Grove-White after the official had awarded Stirling a penalty. The ref, quite rightly, reversed the decision, giving possession to Hawks and George Horne scored in the corner.

That impetus was carried into the second period as Hunter chipped over another penalty and Robert Beattie sprinted in for a try that Hunter goalled.

County scored tries late on from Dylan Taikato-Simpson and Danny Gilmour, Hope converting the latter, but it was too little, too late.
