Wiseman pledge to Maggie’s Glasgow

The generosity of a local family has made this Christmas the perfect time to give a gift to Maggie’s, the charity which provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their family and friends.

The Wiseman family has pledged to match-fund every donation made to Maggie’s Glasgow and Maggie’s Lanarkshire before the end of the year up to a total of £50,000 for each Centre.

So far, Maggie’s Glasgow and Maggie’s Lanarkshire have raised more than two thirds of their target amount but they need to raise more than £30,000 more before New Year’s Eve in order to make the most of the Wiseman family’s generosity and receive the maximum £100,000.

Kerry Craig, Centre Head at Maggie’s Glasgow, said: “This is such a wonderful pledge, doubling every penny we receive in donations and making every gift we receive go twice as far towards our aim of making the biggest difference possible to anyone and everyone in Glasgow and the West of Scotland who is affected by cancer.

“Maggie’s relies entirely on voluntary donations to be able to continue to offer our unique programme of support and keep our Centre open for everyone who needs that support. Being able to make the most of the Wiseman Family’s amazing pledge would be the best possible start to our New Year.”

To donate, you can drop into Maggie’s Glasgow, in the grounds of Gartnavel Hospital, before Christmas Eve, or you can donate online right up until New Year by going to www.maggiescentres.org/how-you-can-help/ways-give.

Maggie’s Glasgow is a warm and welcoming place, with qualified professionals on hand to offer an evidence-based core programme of support that has been shown to improve physical and emotional wellbeing.

Maggie’s relies on voluntary donations to support and grow its network of Centres and to develop its unique, high quality programme of support. The charity’s aim is to make the biggest difference possible to people living with cancer and their family and friends.
