Marshals rushed to the scene at the Knockhill Racing Circuit, in Fife, on 6 May to help him.

The driver was then taken to hospital and is now recovering at home.

An onlooker said that he was relieved that the rescue team got to him so quickly.

He said: “I noticed he had clipped the other car and went onto the grass. The car dug into the gravel and I think the momentum of that caused it to flip over.

“It looked really dramatic but I was sure he was ok with the safety equipment he had.

“Also when the rescue team got there so fast, I knew he was in good hands.”
