MUSIC: 50 CENT

Eminem prodigy 50 Cent will be taking to the SSE Hydro stage tonight with his hip-hop group, G-Unit. The rapper will be performing hits from his decade-spanning career including In Da Club, his ominous breakout single, Candy Shop and How We Do. Fiddy’s latest album, which has been in the pipeline since 2012, is set for release this month.

COMEDY: COMEDIAN RAP BATTLE

If tales of the high life and ‘beefs’ aren’t for you, comedy ned The Wee Man has something more self-effacting in store. Combining hip-hop and stand-up, Comedian Rap Battle received a five-star review at the Fringe festival. Creator Neil Bratchpiece pits the country’s best comedians against its best rappers which results in a full-blown slagging match. It’s no 8 Mile, but it perfectly showcases the Scottish sense of humour at its finest.

ART: HENRY FRASER: STILL LIFE

Renowned for his abstracted finger painting which captures the brevity of human life, Henry Fraser will be displaying his work on still life. The exhibition will see a shift in his subject matter and exploration into more mysterious forms and characters. The artist’s intention is to illustrate captured conversations, chance encounters and personal experiences that would’ve been otherwise lost.

FILM: THE BLACK PANTHERS: VANGUARD OF THE REVOLUTION

The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution documents the short and tumultuous history of the Black Panther movement in the late 1960s. Director Stanley Nelson tells the story of a time of change, of a country united purely in name and of a movement that helped shaped contemporary American culture.

SCREENING: SOUNDINGS: PJ HARVEY

Soundings is a new experimental series of in conversation-style events which sees internationally renowned musicians and writers at the University of St Andrews join forces. Tonight’s screening features the multi-talented PJ Harvey appearing alongside Paul Muldoon.
