The man behind Edinburgh institutions Roti, Olorosso and Tony’s Table, donned a kilt specially designed by Kinloch Anderson to promote the event ahead of St Andrew’s day.

As part of Turn up in Tartan on November 27, businesses, schools and clubs are being asked to wear tartan and raise money for the charity.

The popular TV chef, who often wears a kilt on his cookery programmes, said: “I am delighted to be able to help promote Turn up in Tartan for Macmillan Cancer Support because it’s a fun and easy way to help people affected by cancer ahead of Scotland’s national day.”

Paul Sweeney, Macmillan’s head of fundraising for Scotland and Northern Ireland, said: “There are currently 220,000 people in Scotland living with cancer. We’re helping people in local communities across Scotland but with the number of people needing our help growing daily, we constantly need to raise funds. What better way than by having a bit of fun at work, school or with friends while helping to ensure no one faces cancer alone.”

The money raised from the partnership will be used to fund Macmillan’s vital cancer services including specialist nurses working throughout the NHS, a telephone support line and grants for cancer patients with financial problems.
