Desperate Dan, Minnie the Minx and penguins in Dundee city centre, together with Youth with Split Apple at New King’s College in Aberdeen, were among statues in seven cities across the UK getting into the festive spirit ahead of the Text Santa fundraising event on December 18th.

As part of the ITV’s Text Santa appeal, which this year is raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, Make A Wish UK and Save the Children, people are encouraged to wear a Christmas jumper and donate money.

The money raised by Text Santa will go towards funding Macmillan nurses and other essential workers to help people affected by cancer, granting magical wishes to children with life-threatening conditions and helping to transform the lives of children in the UK and abroad.

Isla Dewar, Macmillan’s Area Fundraising Manager for North Scotland, said: “We’re so excited that people across the UK are coming together, statues included, to do their bit in a festive knit for Christmas Jumper Day.

“Everyone can join in. By wearing a Christmas jumper on Friday December 18th and donating to Text Santa, you’ll be helping families in difficulty at Christmas.”
