Dens career looks over for Douglas

Rab Douglas appears to have played his last game for Dundee after it emerged the goalkeeper had not been back to Dens Park since last Friday’s bust-up with manager John Brown.

Douglas is understood to have been unhappy at not being told about the arrival of new goalkeeper Steve Simonsen, who made his debut in Sunday’s
Dundee derby at Tannadice.

Brown insisted that Douglas, who recently marked his 300th
appearance for the Dark Blues, was left out of the 1-1 draw due to a recent thigh injury.

Brown and Douglas spoke after Simonsen’s signing, with Douglas left unhappy after the exchange. And there now appears no way back for the 40-year-old former Scotland
international.

“What’s going to happen is going to happen,” said Brown, suggesting there would be further developments related to Douglas’ reaction.

“We had a conversation, things were said and he left the stadium after that.

“He’s not [been back since] but things are happening; so, when that happens, you’ll find out.”

Brown added: “Rab is contracted to Dundee until the end of the season. Until Rab is fit he can’t play.”
