Dave King set for Rangers talks within 48 hours

Former Rangers director Dave King is expected to arrive in Scotland in the next two days to enter talks which could prove pivotal in the ongoing boardroom battle.

King’s visit was originally scheduled to coincide with the club’s AGM, which has now been postponed until late December thanks to a successful legal challenge led by Paul Murray, another former club director.

The Sun reports that King is due to meet power brokers at the club - although who that could be beyond Rangers’ only remaining directors, James Easdale and Brian Stockbridge, is unclear.

King has already declared his intention to become Rangers chairman, a move made possible by the settling of a long-running tax dispute with South African authorities.

And King will hope to gain more ground in his bid to rejoin the Rangers hierarchy by travelling to East Fife to attend a Rangers game.

The AGM is now to be held on December 30. The delay of the original meeting came about after Murray’s attempts to install a motion to allow former chairman Malcolm Murray, Scott Murdoch and Alex Wilson admitted to the board were blocked.
