Charles Green to discover Rangers fate next week

RANGERS consultant Charles Green will find out next week if he is to be removed from his position.

A meeting of the Ibrox board will take place on Tuesday little over two weeks after the former chief executive returned to the Rangers fold.

Green is reported to earn around £1,000 a month for “shareholder relations” consultancy services.

However the Yorkshireman has come under fire for demanding that manager Ally McCoist deliver either the League or Scottish Cup this season.

Current Rangers chief executive Craig Mather branded Green’s behaviour “immoral and unethical” at a meeting of Rangers supporters last week.

A joint statement released by the Rangers Supporters Trust, the Rangers Supporters Association and the Rangers Supporters Assembly has called for the situation with Green to be settled.

He said: “This meeting has been confirmed for next Tuesday. While I understand and appreciate the feelings of supporters who have issued a statement calling for action and a resolution this week, I want to assure everyone the issue will be addressed on Tuesday.

“It was vitally important that I spend time in London this week meeting institutional investors along with finance director Brian Stockbridge.

“As a result of that, and the unavailability of other directors, the board meeting can’t be held until next week.

“I can assure everyone that I will, as always, do what is in the best interested of the club.”

Charles Green resigned from his position in April last year after allegations emerged about his links with former club owner Craig Whyte.

He was subsequently cleared by an external inquiry.

The former Rangers chief executive was also criticised at the time of his departure for making racist references about his associate Imran Ahmad.
