The above video shows the incredible moment police stormed into a house – and a man appears to flee by bursting through the roof.

Footage captured from an office building across the street shows six officers ram the locked residential front door.

But seconds after they enter, tiles can be seen coming loose from the roof – before a man pokes his head out.

The police officers then run from the house as the man bursts out onto the roof and begins pelting tiles down into the street below – all while taking a phone call.

An unusual stand-off

A witness, who did not wish to be named, filmed the peculiar stand-off from the office building across the road in Penarth, Wales, on Friday afternoon (1 Mar). And the 36 year old witness said at 4pm that the man had been on the roof for about an hour.

He said, “There’s been about 10 people in our office watching the stand-off for about an hour now, and a crowd of about 20 or 30 people out in the street.

“There must be about 50 police officers outside the house. There’s at least at 10 police vans here. There’s a negotiator pacing round as well, because the man was throwing tiles.

“The man did go back inside the attic for a bit, and then he kept going in and out. The police are waiting outside – they can’t do anything, in case the man falls from the roof.”

The witness added, “There’s a woman and a young child who have come out the house and onto the street. But the man is refusing to come out.”

He said a 50 metre police cordon was put in place around the house.
