When the lock-down was announced in March, one of the many things affected were live events.
That included the planned tour of international music superstar, Sir Elton John. With 16 consecutive top 20 hit singles in 1972, 50 Top 40 hits to his name, multiple Oscars, and an impressive history as a philanthropist, Elton John is one of the UK's greatest ever pop stars.
As such, many were crushed when it was announced Elton John's 2020 shows across the UK were cancelled due to COVID.
And while John provided one of the most joyful moments of lockdown - his indelible charity performance of "I'm Still Standing" ( or should that be "I'm Dill Dandin"?) - it's a rather more joyous announcement that his 2020 Glasgow shows have been rescheduled for late 2021 - and better yet, there are still tickets available.
Sir Elton John will be playing the SSE Hydro on December 13 and 14 2021.
Those with tickets for the original 2020 dates will be honoured.
For those without, but looking to buy for the 2021 dates, tickets are still available here.
In 2019, Rocketman, a biopic of Elton John’s life starring Taron Egerton was released. It charted his astronomic rise to fame, from Reginald Dwight, child of a dysfunctional home, to flamboyant pop superstar.
A new song, I'm Gonna Love Me Again, was contributed to the soundtrack by Elton John and long-term lyricist Bernie Taupin, netting the pair an Oscar for Best Song.
In 2020, Elton John published his critically acclaimed autobiography, Me, which is a Sunday Time bestseller. It discusses the high and lows of his long, unparalleled career, including his substance addiction, legendary friendships with George Michael, John Lennon, and Freddie Mercury, his incredible campaigning on behalf of those with AIDs, and his marriage to David Furnish.
Elton John will also be playing a series of engagements across various UK venues, including London, Birmingham, Liverpool, Belfast and Manchester. Dates and tickets are available here.
