It follows the decision from the SFA to uphold the two-match ban given to Kemar Roofe.

The striker was booked by referee David Munro for a challenge on St Johnstone midfielder Murray Davidson in a 1-0 win at Ibrox last week.

However, the football association sought further action and the player was hit with a notice of complaint.

Rangers appealed the charge but it was “proved" at a hearing on Wednesday.

"We note the outcome of today’s hearing," the club said on Twitter.

“Rangers FC recently called for consistency in the Scottish FA’s disciplinary process.

"There seems to be real confusion within the game regarding which incidents are cited and those that are not. This confusion solidifies our viewpoint regarding the current system.”

There have been other incidents in Scottish football which have escaped action from the SFA, leading to these calls from Steven Gerard and the Premiership league leaders.
