Prince Philip being treated for 'infection' and due to remain in hospital

The Duke of Edinburgh is being treated in hospital for an infection, it has been reported.

Prince Philip was admitted to the King Edward VII’s Hospital in London on Tuesday last week as a precautionary measure after feeling unwell.

The 99-year-old has been “doing okay”, according to his grandson Prince William who said “the doctors are keeping an eye on him.”

He is now on his eighth day in hospital and it is understood that he will not be leaving the hospital for several days.

A Buckingham Palace source said on Friday that it was likely the Duke of Edinburgh would remain in hospital this week.
