Peaky Blinders filming locations: where is it set as Cillian Murphy and cast seen in Portsoy shooting season 6

The highly anticipated sixth series of Peaky Blinders is currently being filmed and is set for release later this year.

Fans of the Shelby brothers - headed by Thomas (Cillian Murphy) - will be eager to see what the BBC producers have in store for the troubled family this season - and it’shard not to become invested in their antics and drama.

While you may not be able to travel back in time to the 1920s and see what life was really like for Thomas, Arthur, John and Polly,you could visit these six locations in the UK where the cast have been filming the drama.

Portsoy, Aberdeenshire

The BBC has spent weeks transforming the charming east coast village of Portsoy ahead of filming the latest series of Peaky Blinders.

Buildings at the 17th century harbour has been lined with wooden cladding, and outbuildings on the promenade have been erected to give the set a 20th century feel.

Most notably, The Shore Inn has been recreated as the fictional Hotel Lalanne. It is not known what purpose this will serve in the upcoming series, but we can’t wait to find out.

Visitors to Portsoy, which is nestled between Banff and Cullen, can enjoy the winding streets of the village centre views from the harbour and visit exhibitions of the marble jewelry made in the village, which was once shipped to Versailles, France.

The best time to visit may be July, when the Portsoy boating festival takes place to honour the craftsmanship of building, repairing and renovating boats, as well as crafts including knotting, weaving and embroidery.

Port Sunlight, Wirral

Aunt Polly, who has benefited from the deals and crimes of her Shelby nephews, lives in the suburbs of Birmingham, in the royal town of Sutton Coldfield.

However, in real life the set of her home is part of Port Sunlight, a model village in Liverpool created to house workers of the nearby Sunlight soap factory in the 1800s

You can visit the house and village as part of several UK tours.

Visitors to the village can spend the day exploring the Port Sunlight Museum and art gallery, as well as looking at the fascinating 1800s architecture.

Victoria Baths, Manchester

This grade II listed building is famous in Manchester and was built for just over £59,000 in 1906 in the Chorlton-on-Medlock area..

The baths closed to the public in 1993 and received a multimillion pound restoration in 2007. It has since been used as the horse fair ground in Peaky Blinders.

The building, which used to be accessible to the public, is considered “a water palace of which every citizen of Manchester can be proud.” Many well-known Olympic swimmers began their careers at Victoria Baths.

The building is now used as a wedding and arts venue, though families and tour groups can arrange to visit the baths and hear about its history.

Tickets cost £5 per person, and there are also tea and coffee facilities.

Admiral Grove and Powis Street, Liverpool

If you want to really imagine where the cast play out the 1920s drama, you should take a visit to Admiral Grove and Powis Street in Liverpool.

The tiny lanes serve as the Shelby’s turf in Small Heath, and if that's not enough to attract you, 10 Admiral Grove is where The Beatles’ Ringo Starr grew up.

The area is often used as the filming location for Peaky Blinders, but the winding lanes and Georgian buildings are also used as the filming location for the TV series, Victoria.

Arley Hall and Gardens, Cheshire

Arley Hall is a stunning country manor in the village of Arley, and Peaky Blinders is just one of several TV series and programmes filmed at the venue.

The house is used as the backdrop and set of Tommy Shelby’s stunning house, though it is really the home of Viscount Ashbrook and his family and has been for 500 years.

The Hall was built in 1832 and guests can wander round, imagining themselves in Tommy’s dining room, drawing rooms, library and bedroom.

When Tommy is residing at the manor, it has also hosted ITV’s Coronation Street, Cold Feet, The Voice, Tonight with Trevor McDonald and The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes.

The garden, trails and restaurant are also open to visitors.

Keighley and Worth Valley Railway

The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway is used in Peaky Blinders for several scenes, including the heartbreaking scene with Grace and Inspector Campbell.

The railway runs from Keighley, for five miles up the valleys of the River Worth and Bridgehouse Beck to Oxenhope.

The area,also known as Bronte Country, is where the famous Emily Bronte and her sisters grew up.

There are several railway journeys and day trips which will allow you to view the stunning landscape which is said to have inspired Bronte’s work.
