Outgoing English Premier League boss new odds-on favourite to become next Celtic manager

Outgoing Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is the new odds-on favourite to succeed Neil Lennon at Celtic.

The 53-year-old jumps over the likes of Roy Keane, Eddie Howe and current interim boss John Kennedy at 4/6 with bookmakers Betfair to be the next permanent appointment at Parkhead.

The former Blades full-back is set to leave the Bramall Lane club after almost five years at the helm. He was responsible for leading the Steel City club from England’s League One to ninth place in the top flight last season.

However, Wilder is now set to bear the brunt for a disastrous 2020/21 campaign in which United have avoided defeat in only six of their 28 league matches. They currently sit bottom of the EPL table, 12 points from safety.

Meanwhile, ex-Celtic boss Lennon is among the favourites with Betfair to replace Wilder at Sheffield United. Former Hibs manager Paul Heckingbottom is also in the running.
