The 23-year-old has signed a pre-contract deal to join Steven Gerrard in the summer, although a January move has been a possibility since the deal was sealed.

Last month Steven Gerrard responded to suggestions of a deal being done within the current transfer window as “a bonus” but as yet no deal has been agreed. His current boss at Pittodrie Derek McInnes suggested it might be possible for a deal to be struck, but that he would continue to pick the winger for the Dons while he was still an Aberdeen player.

Reports from the north-east have now suggested the Dons are sticking to their word and plan to keep Wright until the end of the season unless their valuation over the final six month of his contract is met today.

According to the Daily Record ‘multiple bids’ have been rejected by the Dons.
