Fisher nets JCM Scotload for £3m

JAMES Fisher, the marine engineering and shipping group, has expanded its Scottish presence with the £3 million acquisition of Aberdeen-based JCM Scotload.

Under the terms of the deal, JCM's two founders, Jim Murray and Mark Jones, will remain with the company.

JCM, which designs and manufactures load measurement instruments for the offshore oil industry, will become a subsidiary of Fisher's Strainstall Group.

Murray said: "We have reached the stage when being part of a larger group will help us expand our already successful business."

Cumbria-based Fisher hit the headlines in 2005 when its Renfrew-based Rumic division rescued seven trapped Russian submariners. Last May it acquired Inverurie-based Buchan Technical Services for 4.9m.
