Weather warning: Snow to hit Lothians again

SNOW and driving winds are expected to sweep across most parts of Scotland today with falls of up to 16ins on high ground, and temperatures plunging to -3C.

Motoring organisations said roads are likely to be treacherous after temperatures were set to plummet overnight, turning melted snow into ice.

Temperatures plunging to -3C could be the lowest recorded in late March for 20 years.

Conditions are expected to improve as the weekend goes on.
